Congress' Tea Party Freshmen Stand Firm on Spending

image[ I am beginning to have hope that We the People have, in fact, helped elect some people with “principles rather than politics”. Our Tea Party movement Congressmen are teaching our RINOs something about pride, fiscal responsibility, and principles! Let’s pray that this continues…. – JS ]

From Fox News

As the battle over funding the federal government for the rest of the fiscal year continues, freshmen members of Congress backed by the Tea Party movement are being credited for pushing the GOP to stand firm with plans for deep cuts.

"The people sent us up here for fiscal responsibility, and that's what we're promoting," Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., told Fox News.

The funding measure for the remaining seven months of the government’s fiscal year passed by the House earlier this month contained major cuts, but has received a chilly reception in the Democrat-controlled Senate. It looks increasingly likely that Republicans and Democrats will agree to a short-term fix by Friday, when the current stopgap funding measure keeping the government running expires.

Then comes the harder work of negotiating a deal for the rest of the fiscal year, and that’s when freshman members who embrace the Tea Party label plan to make their stand.
