Political disasters.. are the result – not the cause of the decline of our great nation!
From Larry Miller in It's Not About Politics
...The Declaration of Independence, signed on that warm July day in 1776, recognized that our rights, and everything else that is good comes from our Creator. The people making the rules these days have the arrogance to want us to believe that the government grants us rights and privileges. In return they demand compliance with decrees that they say are for our own good… but it usually does not turn out that way.
We are also expected to fall in line with they values they have determined are now correct. These are values like, killing unborn children for any reason is good, homosexuality is normal – something to be proud of even, for some reason, and perhaps the most foolish of all, people are not responsible for the bad things they do. These bad things happen because the government did not have a program, or if it had a program, it didn’t spend enough money on it. This is what happens when the government is supreme and wants to be responsible for everything except its failures.
So the question becomes what brought about this drastic change in world views. The answer is the docile church… the church that has quietly stood by while all this moral destruction was taking place. It’s not the people who have bought into the lies of the deceiver. In far too many cases, that is the only side they have heard. At this point I would remind those who believe this thinking is designed to use religion for political purposes that, for these individuals, the consequences of taking the wrong path will go on forever. It’s not just the fate of the country that is of concern. It’s not political – that is just the symptom, not the cause.
II Chronicles 7:14 tells us where the blame lies: “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” We talk amongst ourselves about how bad things are. Do we talk to the One who can actually do something about it? The evil is ours to fix and ours to overcome. Do we have the will? Read it all here...
