We need to return to some very old, very basic truths. Welfare programs should create no sense of entitlement to an endless stream of handouts. Business laws and regulations should cause no expectation of future bailouts. Otherwise, the soaring costs will eventually ruin us, both morally and financially.
A “something for nothing” approach begets a culture of subservience and dependence and undermines self-reliance, self-discipline and self-respect — traditional virtues that have always been vital components of the American spirit.
Where is the Clergy When We Need Them? A State that has been granted too much power is a State that demands our fear, rather than the mere honor of government that is called for by God’s design. Perhaps you can begin with teaching this perspective: “Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God. Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.” (1 Peter 2:16-17)

Why $16 Trillion Only Hints at the True U.S. Debt:
Hiding the government's liabilities from the public makes it seem that we can tax our way out of mounting deficits. We can't.
The actual liabilities of the federal government—including Social Security, Medicare, and federal employees' future retirement benefits—already exceed $86.8 trillion, or 550% of GDP. For the year ending Dec. 31, 2011, the annual accrued expense of Medicare and Social Security was $7 trillion. Nothing like that figure is used in calculating the deficit. In reality, the reported budget deficit is less than one-fifth of the more accurate figure.
Hamas, a resistance movement resisting the existence of Jews since 1987 --
Much of the coverage of the war between Israel and the Hamas terrorist organization controlling Gaza tried to paint the conflict as morally ambiguous. It's not. Hamas is founded on a genocidal charter calling for the killing of Jews. TheDC's Jamie Weinstein opines:
"Hamas makes no attempt to avoid killing innocent civilians. If fact, killing innocent civilians is their modus operandi. That the terror organization lacks the capacity at the moment to kill as many Jews as it would like to does not make it any less vile or insidious. We should be thankful that Hamas isn’t better armed, not sad that Israel has better weaponry. If Hamas could eliminate all Israelis, it would. It’s only a resistance movement in the sense that it is resisting the existence of Jews on the planet."
To quote the great Winston Churchill, albeit in a much different context, "I decline utterly to be impartial as between the fire brigade and the fire."
The Gloves Are Off!
Republicans were supposed to make sure that only VALID votes got counted. Instead we were left, yet again with electile dysfunction. Obama lost every state with valid voter ID and won those without it. You do the fraudulent math.
Isn't it time we started looking at Flat Tax proposals again?
At least then the government could be restricted to social engineering with the money they have rather than the money they leave us with or, worse yet, borrow or print. Gone would be all the discussion about most tax deductions and inequalities.
By flat, I mean flat. Under X-Dollars, you pay none, over that, you get to keep it. This would, of course, require a balanced budget pared to GDP!
Yes, I know a whole lot of accountants, lawyers, and, best of all, politicians & bureaucrats, would be looking for some other gainful employment! And I know the Democrat party, lacking redistributionist plunder, would have to find some other way to pander.
