Conservative on Target–10/19/12

Romney's Tax Deduction Cap: The Obama campaign and the press corps keep demanding that Mitt Romney specify which tax deductions he'd eliminate, but the Republican has already proposed more tax-reform specificity than any candidate in memory. To wit, he's proposed a dollar limit on deductions for each tax filer. [Folks, you really need to think about this. It pretty much stops all tax-shelter lobbying. Better yet, though, it could include a single rate tax system with consumption taxes and an appropriate safety net with work requirements! – JS]

BEST TRUTHFUL CAMPAIGN ATTACK EVER? "We don’t have to settle for what we’re going through. We don’t have to settle for gasoline at four bucks. We don’t have to settle for unemployment at a chronically high level. We don’t have to settle for 47 million people on food stamps. We don’t have to settle for 50 percent of kids coming out of college not able to get work. We don’t have to settle for 23 million people struggling to find a good job. If I become president, I’ll get America working again. I will get us on track to a balanced budget. The president hasn’t. I will. I’ll make sure we can reform Medicare and Social Security to preserve them for coming generations. The president said he would. He didn’t." -- Mitt Romney

The True Radicals in America
:  Nonsense. A homeshooling family can educate a child for less than $1000 per year. It’s one of the reasons Dr. Gary North has described the homeschool movement as the “The Most Radical Social Movement in America” for the simple reason that it’s opposed to educational and political messiahism. Statism is the god of most politicians and the people who benefit from wealth transfer payments confiscated from the productive — America’s 47 percent.

October Surprise in The Show Me State -- TheDC's Matthew Boyle reports on a new twist in the Missouri Senate race: "Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill’s husband used the U.S. Senate Dining Room to cut business deals selling tax credits tied to stimulus money, a whistle-blowing executive inside his company alleged on an audio recording exclusively obtained by The Daily Caller. 'The thing that irritated me about this was he [McCaskill’s husband Joseph Shepard] entertained these outside investors in the Senate Dining Room,' the whistle-blower said. 'That’s where he closed the deal.'”
Team McCaskill, however, tells TheDC that the whistle-blower shouldn't be trusted since he is a "twice-convicted felon and a disgruntled former employee" from McCaskill's husband's company.

"The GOP has as much commitment to small government as the Democratic Party has to a strong national defense." -- John Dobbins
