Almost every time the President opens his mouth he is sowing seeds of discord among the people. Proverbs 6:12-15 talks about people that do this sort of thing.
A worthless person, a wicked man,
goes about with crooked speech,
winks with his eyes, signals with his feet,
points with his finger,
with perverted heart devises evil,
continually sowing discord;
therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly;
in a moment he will be broken beyond healing. (ESV) …
We, on the other side of the spectrum, need to see to that we don’t end up splintering ourselves into ineffective colonies. The establishment types need to be open to the will of the grass roots activists. Evangelicals who have a problem with Romney’s Mormon faith need to understand that it gives him a firm moral compass… something the current does not have – and there some some mainline churches that have long since lost their first love and have departed from the faith… and no one says a word. The Paul-only people need to realize that this probably is not going to happen and if they take their marbles and go home, there really is a difference between a Romney administration and Obama’s evil collection of czars.
Of course we could have done better, but it appears that ship has sailed. We can mope about missed opportunities or we can make the best of what we have, working to avoid the worst that would come upon this land should the pretender be given another four ruinous years.
Genesis 11 has one more piece of advice when it tells us, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.” (ESV) We stick together… we can be victorious. We beat each other up… and we live in a destroyed, once great nation.
