Conservative on Target! 4/25/12

Virtue Starts at the Top: The Obama administration is corrupt from top to bottom… The solution isn't to pass more laws - more laws merely provide more opportunities for chicanery.  The solution is for the citizens to enforce virtue by electing honest politicians. [“But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes.” ~ Exodus 18:21 – JS]

HYPOCRISY & CRONYISM Watch! Buffett Gets a Break on Fee: Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has argued that wealthier Americans should pay more to Washington, a rallying cry that has become a centerpiece of President Barack Obama's re-election campaign. But NetJets Inc., the private-jet company owned by Mr. Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc., spent more than $1 million over the past three years to lobby Congress to cut a user fee, benefiting the company's well-heeled customers, who buy or lease shares in planes. The reduced fee, part of the recent Federal Aviation Administration bill that took effect earlier this month, will save customers of NetJets and other similar companies roughly $83 million over about four years, according to congressional estimates. [Folks. This was a bi-partisan decision! – JS]

Self-Defense Under Attack: … it is worth noting that Florida's violent crime rate, which fell by 12 percent in the five years before the "stand your ground" law was enacted, fell by 23 percent in the five years afterward. Since 1987, when Florida adopted a nondiscretionary carry permit law that the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence blames for "year after year of carnage," the state's violent crime rate has been cut nearly in half.

Conservative Consumers: Stand Your Ground: Conservative consumers need to get informed, get active and stand their ground against free speech-squelching progressive activists who have demonized the American Legislative Exchange Council. This isn't just a battle over ALEC. It's a war against the left's shakedown artists taking aim at our freedoms of speech and association.

"When a new source of taxation is found it never means, in practice,
that an old source is abandoned. It merely means that the politicians
have two ways of milking the taxpayer where they had only one before."
-- H. L. Mencken
