5 Things Conservatives Can Learn From Liberals:
- Fight Harder
- Support Activists
- Embrace Identity Politics
- Make Emotion-Based Arguments
- Move the Ball Forward
Romney's Businessman Pitch Won't Work: If you can't articulate the cause for which you are fighting in moral terms, you will lose… Instincts are never enough. You need to have thought about politics in the philosophical sense to know what is going on. I have seen businessmen in Washington with superb instincts who soon became frustrated. That is because people who have no background in either moral philosophy or rhetoric—i.e., lacking the "vision thing"—are most often left speechless when they discover that they cannot rebut attacks with management techniques.
America the Impotent?
Americans of all political stripes need to grieve over America’s impotent image around the world.
In grieving over the condition of the greatest country on Earth, believers need to pray that God will somehow supernaturally intervene, not because we deserve His supernatural intervention, but because of the role that America has played and can continue to play in bringing the only message of peace through Christ to a desperate and dying world. Family Research Council Criticizes Ninth Circuit Ruling to Overthrow Definition of Marriage
… the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, overturned California's Proposition 8, which defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman. FRC filed an amicus curiae ("friend of the court") brief in the case, now known as Perry v. Brown.
Today's ruling by a three-judge panel upheld a lower court decision by now-retired federal Judge Vaughn Walker in August 2010. Judge Walker later admitted he is himself a homosexual and has had a long-term partner, meaning that he potentially stood to personally benefit from the legalization of same-sex "marriage."
Should Fluency in English be a Requirement for Political Office? Personally, I believe that English is the official language as established by our Founding Fathers and that everyone planning on living in our country be required to learn the language [So do I! – JS]. Having lived in a southwest border state for over 30 years, I have known second and third generation Mexicans that were born in the US that could still not speak any English. They all had the attitude that Americans had to cater to them and their language rather than the other way around. If you don’t care enough to learn the language, then perhaps you do not truly appreciate what America has to offer and you should consider returning to your home country where it is spoken and stop trying to change our county. Obamacare Awakens a Sleeping Giant: The Obama Administration’s actions, though entirely counter to the freedom of religion, should not be surprising given the nature of the President’s health care law. Obamacare has given the federal government broad power over one-sixth of the American economy and thereby purports to grant Washington the power to force religious institutions to take actions contrary to their faith. Addington writes that this kind of concentration of power “has proved to be a drastic and dangerous experiment.” America’s religious leaders and the faithful have awoken to this wolf at their door and are lashing out in defense of their freedoms. Congress, too, should act now by repealing Obamacare and restoring the religious liberty that is so central to our way of life.
From Rasmussen:
59% Say Election Rules 'Rigged' To Help Congressional Incumbents: Fewer than half of voters nationwide still believe elections are generally fair. Most think the system is rigged to benefit incumbents in Congress.
Daily Presidential Tracking Poll: Obama 48% Romney 42%
Paul Krugman Makes The Bull Case For The Economy In One Simple Paragraph: ...it’s not hard to see how this recovery could become self-sustaining. In particular, at this point America is seriously under-housed by historical standards, because we’ve built very few houses in the six years since the housing bubble popped. The main thing standing in the way of a housing bounce-back is a sharp fall in household formation — econospeak for lots of young adults living with their parents because they can’t afford to move out. Let enough Americans find jobs and get homes of their own, and housing, which got us into this slump, could start to power us out.
"Welfare rights are pseudo-rights: They rely on the force of law to take private property for the use of others without compensation and without consent. Public charity is forced charity; it is not a virtue but a vice." -- James A. Dorn
"Legislators and revolutionaries who promise equality and liberty at the same time are either psychopaths or mountebanks." -- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
