From Maj Pain
When you’re steely eyed warriors go into harm’s way they are trained and given everything they need to succeed. Sometimes Marines find themselves in harm’s way and other times, more often than not they find themselves in Hells way. Those that go forward on the pointy end of the spear know the risks. They know the sacrifices that may wait them yet they go anyway.
We may have a good idea what our Marines do for us but what do you tell those left behind when a warrior is lost? How can you put into words what some warriors have done? Many have done awesome things. Things many would say they rate an award. However, the awesome things they did are what we expect from Marines and often they don’t get the recognition they deserve.
Your Marines and service members are our Nations heroes, hell your Marines are Super Heroes in my book but I’m a bit partial.
No words can describe to those left to deal with the void created when a warrior is lost. No actions can sooth those that understand the loss and make it easier. This is yet another reason why it is so important for America to realize how special their warriors are so when one of these lil tykes grows up and asks someone what it meant for their daddy to be a Marine, they will be told about their hero accurately.
Meet Landon… his dad Marine LCPL Carpenter made the ultimate sacrifice
while serving with 3/8 in Afghanistan earlier this year… a month before his son was born. (Thx Shannon L)
Some gave all…
[WOW! – JS]
Honor Them....I will never forget your sacrifice or your parent less children.
