In the new National Security Strategy released by the White House last month, the Obama administration rightly reaffirms that America remains a nation at war. Unfortunately, it refuses to identify our enemy in this war as what it is: violent Islamist extremism.
This is more than semantics. As military strategists since Sun Tzu have appreciated, the first rule in war is to know your enemy so you can defeat it. The 2006 National Security Strategy did this: It correctly identified our enemy as "the transnational terrorists [who] exploit the proud religion of Islam to serve a violent political vision." As a former Democratic secretary of state, Dean Acheson, warned a half-century ago: "No people in history have ever survived who thought they could protect their freedom by making themselves inoffensive to their enemies." This remains the case today.

Obama will use Oval Office speech to politicize the Gulf oil disaster
It's amazing to see this unfold before our eyes. There's a terrible oil drilling accident. Lives are lost. Oil is gushing from a well that's about a mile down. But, instead of protecting the American people from the oil, the administration rebuffs all efforts to contain and clean the contamination. Instead, it rushes to bring in the attorneys and demonize the oil industry. Shell-shocked American's and an impotent main stream media focus solely on the damage -- not the administration's contribution to the pollution -- and march comatose to the melody of government to the rescue. HYPOCRISY Watch! Pelosi: Rein in my new Office of Congressional Ethics due to its success!
The Office of Congressional Ethics, which is largely composed of former members, was created in 2008 by Democrats who vowed to establish a more ethical Congress. As Speaker Pelosi said at the time: "We have come here to drain the swamp. The New Direction Congress will for the first time open the ethics process up to the participation of our fellow citizens, which will make this institution more accountable." INCREDIBLE! Obama, Reid and Pelosi: Irresponsibility Cubed - Where's the budget?
Last week's news that Congress will likely be unable to pass the FY2011 budget came and went without a whimper. That is a pity. Our Constitution is quite specific, outlining the duties and responsibilities of the Congress in shaping a budget and balancing revenues (via taxes, and duties) with outlays for general welfare and government. Approving the budget, ensuring that our government’s system of checks and balances is functioning properly is one of Congress’ most important responsibilities. Our 111th Congress has decided that other more pressing and demanding issues that must be urgently addressed than to perform their primary Constitutional duties…
The triumvirate of Obama, Reid and Pelosi, have decided to focus on the incidental rather than on the national priority. Constitutional responsibilities have been shirked as they made a conscious decision to pursue form rather than substance. They have told Americans by their actions that they care more for themselves, their positions and their personal power than they do for the well-being of the country. These three have abandoned reason, and abjured the oath they took to put the good of the country first.
We will all have to pay for their incompetence, and the difficult task ahead of finding a more competent group of leaders is made even harder by the irresponsibility of Obama, Reid, and Pelosi.

Can Republicans Win the Hispanic Vote? - TX vs. CA!
Over the last year and half, California lost over a million jobs and its overall level of employment is down where it was ten years ago. Its unemployment rate is several points above the national average.
Texas, on the other hand, was rated number one by CEOs. A low tax, low regulation, right-to-work state, unemployment in Texas is several points below the national average. And Texas has had net positive job creation through the recent recession.
Hispanics who think California is model for America’s future can keep voting for Democrats. But my guess is most will prefer the Texas model.
If Republicans make this choice clear to these folks, political change has got to happen. Read it all…
