Political correctness prevents many from making anything of this revelation. Even churches that should know better are soft on this subject. To many pastors more concerned with numbers on Sunday morning, the thought of offending some congregants is beyond their comprehension. The nature of the gospel itself is that it is offensive to those who wish to continue in their sin. The question for these pastors is that is it more loving to tickle people’s ears with what they want to hear, or to give them the revealed truth we see in the Bible that calls this behavior an “abomination”.
It has been said that if Jesus preached the same message that many pastors do today, he would not have been killed. Too many messages are so inoffensive that the truth of the gospel has been squeezed out to the point where there is no more offense of God’s Word. Social club religion may feel good for the moment but is of no value and those promoting it should be ashamed and “consider their ways”.
II Timothy 3:1-5 tells us:
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
