Obama Administration Errs in Pressuring Israel Rather Than Iran:
The Obama Administration, still clinging to its failed engagement policy on Iran, is pressuring Israel to hold off launching an attack on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure in self defense. The public admonishment of a close ally is a grave error that is likely to backfire by easing pressure on Iran and ultimately increasing the chances of war.
In a Sunday CNN interview, General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that U.S. officials had advised Israel that an immediate attack would be “premature” and counterproductive. He said U.S. officials are not convinced that Tehran has decided to pursue nuclear weapons and that sanctions are starting to bite: “On that basis, I think it would be premature to exclusively decide that the time for a military option was upon us.” General Dempsey said that he is confident that the Israelis “understand our concerns, that a strike at this time would be destabilizing and wouldn’t achieve their long-term objectives.” [Is this treasonous? Didn’t he just tell Iran we won’t attack them? Didn’t he just signal our military strategies? Didn’t he just refuse to back our best ally? Is he just a WH stooge–? JS]
Walter Russell Mead on the government's costly biases against entrepreneurs and small firms: “The IRS doesn't like the self-employed, fearing they may conceal income. Banks and credit card companies view such people with suspicion, and it is notoriously difficult for start ups and part time enterprises to have access to formal finance. Many services are hard for the self-employed to get on terms like those made available to employees of large corporations: from health insurance to retirement planning, many things are harder and more expensive for the self-employed. The payroll tax system is brutal: the self-employed pay both the employer and employee halves of Social Security and Medicare taxes, almost 20 percent of income and likely to go higher. Many cities will tack on unincorporated business taxes, mass transit taxes, and other interesting feudal exactions and dues.”
“I think people have to ask Barack Obama. He’s come out saying he’s a Christian, so I think the question is, ‘What is a Christian?’ ” Franklin Graham
The Bible on Taxes – [This is a great piece! I hadn’t realized how specifically the Word deals with taxation issues. No wonder Obama keeps misquoting it! You might also enjoy Doug Giles’ Who Would Jesus Tax?– JS]
Agenda 21: The Death Knell of Liberty: “The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. …The real enemy then is humanity itself. Democracy is no longer well suited for the tasks ahead.” —From the Club of Rome’s “The First Global Revolution” p. 71,75 1993 [Great article! – JS]
E-Verify will help Americans land the jobs they work hard for:
If we opened up the jobs held by illegal workers, low-skilled Americans would have more opportunities to go back to work and teenagers would be able to develop skills.
One way to open up these jobs is to require all U.S. employers to use E-Verify. This web-based program quickly identifies individuals working illegally here and protects jobs for legal workers by checking the Social Security numbers of new hires. It’s free, quick, and easy to use. Persons eligible to work in the U.S. are immediately confirmed 99.5 percent of the time.
Advocates say bringing a gun to a gun fight is the only way to be safe: As a single woman who lives alone on Chicago’s South Side, Radie doesn’t take a chance with her safety. She keeps her gun by her side at all times when she’s home. One morning last year, she had to use it.
