Cronyism: Undermining Capitalism and Economic Freedom Around the World: “Backroom deals between members of the governing class and their hand-picked cronies influence the legislative, executive, and regulatory actions of governments around the world. Examples of this ancient form of corruption abound. Government intrusions into the private sector as a partner, financier, or outright owner are not only morally hazardous, but toxic to economic freedom. Such special-interest arrangements directly contradict the principles of freedom, incentives, and opportunity detailed in The Heritage Foundation’s Index of Economic Freedom. Citizens of any country need a system of non-discriminatory markets and impartial credit allocation, as well as rewards for individual success, in order to get ahead based on merit and hard work.” [ This is an important paper. I don’t believe you can understand the depth of the problems we have economically until you understand cronyism. – JS ] Read it all here…
MEDIA Watch! Black Murders Eight Whites; Media Blames Whites: “The title of this column seems unbelievable, but it is in fact what happened in America this past week. And almost no one has noticed… After 50 years of being inundated with stories of white racism, and being taught in college that in this white-dominated society, only a white can be a racist, the American public has been properly brainwashed into accepting the otherwise incredible: A black man murdered eight white people at his place of work because they were white, and the media story is about the murderer’s alleged experiences of racism.”
Down the rabbit hole! Confirmed: State Dept. Sending Ground Zero Mosque Imam on Middle East: “If the purpose of the junket is to "help people overseas understand our society"--and not to help Rauf raise the $100 million for his mosque--wouldn't it make sense to send someone representative of the vast majority of Americans who oppose the Ground Zero mosque?”
Summer of Corruption: VBHO's $1B earmark for shady IL energy boondoggle is largest earmark in history: “Back in February 2009, you may recall that government spending watchdog GOP Sen. Tom Coburn first called attention to a $2 billion earmark in the Obama stimulus bill to to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Dept. of Energy defunded because the project was inefficient. The pet project of disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin ballooned in cost, but survived attempts to kill it. Obama continued to deny the existence of earmarks in the stimulus bill, even as his administration moved forward to dole them all out. Well, last week, Obama’s Energy Department crowed about a repackaged FutureGen earmark — the biggest in American history at $1 billion.”
"To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father's has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association -- the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it." -- Thomas Jefferson
Team Obama is playing Michelle's “private citizen” card again in spite of her piles of public perks: “Horse-hockey. Obama’s outspoken bitter half conscientiously and deliberately inserted herself into the public square long before the family moved to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue — whether it was organizing a Woods Fund panel with her husband and Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers, taking a publicly-subsidized government job with Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, parlaying her relationship with political mentor Valerie Jarrett into a cushy public job at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she oversaw a patient-dumping scheme that benefited her political cronies, leveraging her hubby’s Senate victory to snag a lucrative seat on the corporate Board of Directors of TreeHouse Foods, Inc. despite having zero experience in the industry, publicly begrudging other Americans’ choices in how they earn their money, using her East Wing power to push Obamacare, or exploiting the bully pulpit to restrict food advertisers’ speech and serve the SEIU’s legislative agenda under the guise of fighting child obesity (more on this in the paperback version of Culture of Corruption).”
