THUGOCRACY Watch: Cong.Dems threaten companies who complain about ObamaCare costs: Andy McCarthy of NRO gets it right: “If we are now under a system where disclosure gets you a public whipping and other threats by the Powers That Be while nondisclosure promises the ruinous expenses of defending against criminal investigations and civil enforcement, this is no longer anything but a thugocracy.”

Gallup: Obama's Health Care Bounce Dissipates
The spike in President Obama's Gallup approval ratings seems to have disappeared.   As health care reform moved toward its denouement, the President's approval briefly moved upward, from an upside-down 46%-48% in the March 15-17 sample, to a 50%-43% rating on the eve of the vote.  It went as high as 51%-43% during the previous week.  In today's report, however, the President splits 46%-46% in the poll of adults, tying the lowest approval rating of his Administration.

  …America’s history of grassroots activism goes back to the founding of our republic. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people includes as a necessary element those same average, ordinary people being able to gather and speak out. This freedom to assemble was considered so essential to a free nation that our Founders put it in the First Amendment, right alongside the freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
  Ironically, these rights are set side-by-side with the freedom of the press, as well. The leftists in the media would do well to remember that their liberty to be a free press comes from the same constitutional amendment as the tea party crowd’s liberty to gather together.
  And our elected leaders would do well to remember that the First Amendment exists to protect average people from the government, not the other way around. Read more…

George Will : A Birthright for illegal immigrants? Maybe Not. – …Congress has heard testimony estimating that more than two-thirds of all births in Los Angeles public hospitals, and more than half of all births in that city, and nearly 10 percent of all births in the nation in recent years, have been to illegal immigrant mothers. Graglia seems to establish that there is no constitutional impediment to Congress ending the granting of birthright citizenship to persons whose presence here is "not only without the government's consent but in violation of its law."
