Obama to skip 9/11 Ground Zero ceremony - Not exactly a profile in courage

Large campaign war chests don’t mean as much as they used to; particularly to incumbents!    Lawmakers who have huge campaign war chests should not rest easy this year.
In less volatile campaign seasons, large cash-on-hand advantages are like a security blanket. But the waves of 2006 and 2008 – and another one expected this November – have proved that money isn’t everything. A handful of political experts tracking the 2010 election cycle say that incumbency has become enough of a liability this year to trump the conventional advantage of money in the bank.

One in Six Americans Receives Government Assistance:
Fifty million are on Medicaid, a record high and a whopping 17 percent increase since December 2007. Food stamp enrollment has climbed nearly 50 percent since 2008 and now stands at 40 million, or one in seven people. Ten million Americans receive unemployment benefits, and 4.4 million get direct cash assistance, an 18 percent increase from two years ago.
And these are the numbers from only four of the more than 70 welfare programs funded by the federal government. Read the rest…

25 Reasons to Send the Democrats Packing in November:
  1) Remember the stimulus bill? Republicans strongly opposed it and said it wouldn't work. Democrats said it would revive the economy and keep unemployment under 8 percent. So, what happened? Democrats shoved through a bill that cost $1.1 trillion when you add in the interest. It cost more than the Marshall Plan, the Louisiana Purchase, and putting a man on the moon -- combined. The result? The economy didn't take off, the unemployment rate is still at 9.6 percent, and Democrats are calling for...you guessed it, another stimulus bill.
  2) Perhaps the biggest problem with the economy right now is that businesses are so afraid of what the government will do that they're stockpiling cash instead of spending it. Having a pro-market, Republican Congress that will oppose tax hikes, red tape, and damaging new legislation will reduce uncertainty and help give businesses the confidence they need to start hiring and expanding again.
3) While he was campaigning, Barack Obama promised to cut the deficit in half, but in his first 100 days alone, he quadrupled the deficit. As if that wasn't bad enough, his budget blueprint adds more, "debt than all previous presidents -- from George Washington to George W. Bush -- combined." No civilization in human history has spent like America has over the last two years of Democratic rule and unless we can get more Republicans in office, this country's economic future is going to be deader than King Tut and uglier than a 7 day old chunk of roadkill. According to the new Washington Post poll, 57% of voters now disapprove of President Obama's handling of the economy and 58 % give him low marks on dealing with the deficit.

According to the Labor Department, only 47.6% of people ages 16 to 24 had jobs in August, the lowest level since the government began keeping track in 1948.

At least 5 of the 34 House Democrats who voted against Obamacare are running television ads touting their opposition while none of the 219 House Democrats who voted for it are highlighting their support for the bill.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) told CNBC Friday there's "plenty of the room" in the federal budget to cut $700 billion in spending.
