Taliban’s Momentum Slowed but not “Broken,” Mr. President: During Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, President Obama largely glossed over the ongoing war in Afghanistan, where nearly 100,000 American soldiers are fighting to prevent the reemergence of a terrorist safe haven in the region.He did, however, deliver a misleading statement on the subject in declaring that “the Taliban’s momentum has been broken, and some troops in Afghanistan have begun to come home.” The President’s inaccurate statement was duly noted by the Associated Press’s SOTU fact check, which highlighted findings of the latest National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Afghanistan. The classified NIE, representing the consensus view of the U.S. intelligence community, reportedly declares the war a “stalemate” for the time being but also warns that as the U.S. precipitously withdraws, the Taliban will grow stronger, bolder, and more threatening. Obama Promises Jobs to Americans While Outsourcing Them to Brazil: While Obama was standing before Congress and the nation telling them one thing, he’s actually doing the opposite.The Obama controlled Pentagon has awarded a contract to Sierra Nevada Corp who in turn will work closely with Embraer, a Brazilian company to produce a light attack aircraft for the US military. The contract is worth $345 million dollars and would have provided work for 1,400 American workers, most of which would have been union workers, but since it appears that Embraer will be doing most of the work on the aircraft, those jobs will be leaving the country.
Obama Said What? If the insanity in Washington is to stop, if Americans are to return to low taxes, light spending, low debt, and a “general government” as the founding generation called it that handles only the general concerns of the Union of the States, than the American people need to hold both parties accountable. We need to understand the Constitution as ratified by the States in 1787 and 1788. Otherwise, we are doomed to live under a government that has shredded the Constitution and a president that believe he alone has the power to save the economy, control commerce and education, and legislate from the White House. If that is the case, our Constitution is nothing more than a scrap of paper under glass in Washington D.C. Obama Administration Refuses to Protect Religious Liberty: Amidst the many policy prescriptions of last night’s speech, President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address was notably void of comment on the religious liberty conflicts his own Administration has created.In yet another assault on religious organizations’ freedom, the Obama Administration released a decision Friday afternoon finalizing an Obamacare health insurance mandate that will restrict the religious liberty of employers to act in accordance with their conscience.
