Quips, Quotes and Tweets – 9/22/10

According to the Washington Post, Barack Obama is quoted by Bob Woodward as saying, "We can absorb a terrorist attack." Keep America Safe's Liz Cheney responds to the president's remark with this statement:

Americans expect our President to do everything possible to defend the nation from attack.  We expect him to use every tool at his disposal to find, defeat, capture and kill terrorists.  We expect him to deter attacks by making clear to our adversaries that an attack on the United States will carry devastating consequences. Instead, President Obama is reported to have said,  ‘We can absorb a terrorist attack.’ This comment suggests an alarming fatalism on the part of President Obama and his administration. Once again the President seems either unwilling or unable to do what it takes to keep this nation safe.  The President owes the American people an explanation.

Another tale of government intervention gone awry

Almost missed this story of the latest government attempt to “help” the people. Follow along with this fun, real-life scenario of government intervention gone awry in Brooklyn, N.Y.:

imageBrooklyn has a rat problem.
Opossums eat rats.
City brings in opossums to eat rats.
Opossums find human trash more tasty than rats.
Opossums multiply. Quickly.
Brooklyn now has a rat and opossum problem.

Special Report– The Delphi disaster: An economic horror story Obama won’t tell:

Last month, I mentioned the plight of the Delphi salaried retired workers on the Hannity Show (starts at 4:00 minute mark) during our segment on the Obama Beltway Chainsaw Massacre. Today, my column delves further into the economic horror stories of these forgotten victims of Obama’s auto bailout/union payoff. I’ll be telling more of them in coming days.
As I’ve noted over the past several months, the Right needs to forcefully counter the Obama machine’s Alinsky story-telling tactics as the desperate White House strategists ramp up the “personal tone” The leftists who claim to speak for hard-working people who play by the rules won’t put the names and faces and suffering of Obama’s jobs death toll victims front and center. We must.

The Carter-Obama Comparisons Grow - Much to the Dem's discomfort! "[Obama’s] the great earnest bore at the dinner party," wrote Michael Wolff, a contributor to Vanity Fair. "He's cold; he's prickly; he's uncomfortable; he's not funny; and he's getting awfully tedious. He thinks it's all about him." That sounds like a critique of Mr. Carter…  In July, MSNBC's Chris Matthews asked his guests if Democrats up for re-election will "run away from President O'Carter."

TWEETS

Obama presidency 'hobbled by discord' according to book: During disputes over the Afghanistan strategy, General David Petraeus, then head of Central Command, told his aides that the administration was "[expletive] with the wrong guy". Petraeus describes David Axelrod, the president's top political adviser, as "a complete spin doctor". The national security adviser, James Jones, refers to the White House political team as "the water bugs," the "politburo," the "mafia," or the "campaign set". [ Sounds about right to me – JS ]

Here’s more on this subject: What is Obama President of Again? (Is Petraeus next?)

"When Michelle and I decided that I would run for President, it was because of a shared belief in the power of community and connection, a commitment to the idea that we are our brothers' keepers." -- Barack Hussein Obama [ I wish he would stop trying to “keep” me – and everybody else. – JS (See below)]

“Jesus Christ is God's everything for man's total need.” Richard Halverson
