Quick Quips – 4/1/10

Broken Promises: Laws No Longer Mean What They Say > No politician reads them anyway:
Major flaws in the gargantuan Obamacare bill started to emerge almost immediately after it was signed into law.  One of the most embarrassing:  failure to ensure immediate coverage for kids with pre-existing conditions—something Obamacare supporters had constantly promised was part of the bill.
Looking to provide cover for those who wrote the bill, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius fired off a warning letter to insurers. “Health insurance is designed to prevent any child from being denied coverage because he or she has a pre-existing condition,” she scolded.  As though it was their mistake!
The pols got in the act too.  According to the Associated Press, “House leaders later issued a statement saying their intent in writing the legislation was to provide full protection.”  Well all right, then! Read more…

ONLY arrest for threatening violence against a politician targeted Eric Cantor, the House’s No. 2 GOPer.

DEMONIZATION Watch! Against ObamaCare? You're a Fascist Racist Hater:
Differences of opinion and ideology, passionately held, drive the opposition against ObamaCare.
Yet to shut down the effort to overturn ObamaCare's unpopular assault on freedom and prosperity, the left resorts to a frequently employed tactic. They and their media co-conspirators find whack jobs holding stupid signs -- or saying or doing stupid things -- and say, "See! Right-wing intolerance, hatred and racism fuel this movement."
Idiots, wing nuts and haters exist -- on both sides of the political spectrum -- in a country of 300 million people. Those who threaten and engage in violence should be arrested and prosecuted. Those who use incendiary language should be denounced. Read more…

ObamaCare hid $30 billion in Medicaid costs, critics say!

I'M SHOCKED: Stimulus $$ much more likely to end up in the hands of Dem districts than Rep. On average, Democratic districts received one-and-a-half times as many awards as Republican ones. Democratic districts also received two-and-a-half times more stimulus dollars than Republican districts ($122,127,186,509 vs. $46,139,592,268). Republican districts also received smaller awards on average. (The average dollars awarded per Republican district is $260,675,663, while the average dollars awarded per Democratic district is $471,533,539.)
